Short Bio
I am an Assistant Professor of Finance at Pepperdine University, where my research explores the intersection of Finance and Law, with a focus on Relationships, Trust, and Reputation. Relationships underpin all human interactions, and business and finance are no exceptions. In any transaction, parties often attempt to signal trustworthiness and authenticity—whether or not that authenticity is genuine—to establish or maintain perceived relationships. My goal is to uncover the mechanisms through which relationships are formed, trust is built, and reputations are created or destroyed.
At Pepperdine, I currently teach Financial Management and Investments, helping students develop a strong foundation in finance principles and practical application.
I earned my PhD in Finance from Florida State University, where I was supervised by Dr. Casey Dougal. Before that, I completed an MBA in Strategy and a BSc in Computer Science at the University of Florida. During my undergraduate studies, I worked as a research assistant at the McKnight Brain Institute, developing Machine Learning solutions. After my MBA, I joined Facebook/Meta as a Senior Project Manager before transitioning to academia.
While at Florida State University, I taught Problems in Financial Management and Financial Modeling with Excel, and I served as the 2022 Vice President of the Finance and Economics Doctoral Student Association (FEDSA) at the PhD Project.
In this space, I aim to share my research, experiences, and insights on finance, law, data, and machine learning. I believe that transparency fosters better research and a better world, and I am committed to creating an open dialogue for learning and improvement.
